Comic Delayed

Whoopsies. Recoloring’s a little more involved than I thought. I’m almost done, but I’m delaying this week’s comic until this evening (Monday, June 10). Sorry!

EDIT: It’ll be a while longer, since some other work came up. Progress is coming along, though, and I’m about 80-90% done with recoloring chapter 1.

Dreadhack DX in Progress

Yeah, if you saw the front page, you’re probably well aware that I’m working on a recolor of the entire comic. I’m on page 10, I think? Something like that. I’m also doing some minor editing and revising after some feedback, especially in regard to the “looping webpages” joke in the early alpha section.

I really don’t have a timetable for when it’ll be completed, but I’m just updating it every so often as I go along. Also, I’m still planning to do the usual Monday comic post. It may be in black and white just until I clear out my recoloring backlog, so please forgive if you would.

Why am I doing the recoloring project to begin with? Because I wanted to? I did get a bit of feedback about the legibility of the comic as a whole, and I figured some color might help. Though honestly, I’m really just doing it because I want to. Besides, the text editor I’m using to get the coloring done, PabloDraw, has some features that really help with the exporting process, which makes creating and saving new comic pages a whole lot easier. It also has some little quirks and oddities that infuriate me, but such is life and I really can’t complain too much.

That’s about all I have to say for now, really. Thanks a bunch to everyone who’s been reading along thus far!

First Chapter

Alright, the first chapter of WELCOME TO DREADHACK! is up and ready to go. I’m thinking I’ll post new pages once a week. Possibly Mondays like Awkward Zombie does, which is a favorite webcomic of mine. I’d post more often than that, sure, but realistically, I have work and school to juggle and I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew. I’ve done that before and it really isn’t fun. Ergo, until I say otherwise, let’s go with Mondays. What time? As early as I can. My current posting method is fiddly at best, so I kind of have to post it manually instead of just automating it to upload at a specific time. I think. I’ll look into it more, though.

I’ll upload an About page in the near future, but until then, I’m Daniel Caton, musician, composer and, apparently, webcomic “artist.” Yes, I do consider this a comic (if only because there isn’t a better term out there that I know of) and also a form of art, but given that it doesn’t involve sketching, drawing, or any of the traditional mediums, I’m willing to allow that it’s a technicality. My personal website can be found at danielcaton.com if you’re interested in my music, which I consider my “main” career focus, since there are very few job opportunities in the field of ASCII art.

If you have anything you want to ask, just comment and let me know, but regardless, I’ll be working on a draft of that About page.

Let me know what you think of the first chapter!

Cheers,

Daniel Caton
